Anotona for Tuba and Piano (1966) was my “final exam” in second–year Composition. It is a hybrid in that it is atonal, pantonal, and even in a few cadences, simple tonality. This is a duet for Tuba and Piano, meaning they share in the motific development, yet maintain a separate identity, as two voices in conversation. A gifted high school tubist could do well with this piece.

Duet for Tuba and Piano (1995) This piece calls for equal technique on the part
of both players. The middle section is all Tuba with the harmonic/rhythmic stability
of the piano chords. Throughout, the two voices are totally dependent upon one another.
This is suitable for recitals and Solo & Ensemble Festivals

Vanishing Points of Light (1995) for Tuba and Piano was written as an experiment in “stretching a tonality” in unusual ways. The two parts interact as if in dialogue, giving each material to bounce and ricochet off each other. There are lots of accidentals to tame in this piece, with lots of three-part counterpoint passages.
